Who can donate blood?
Most healthy individuals aged 18 to 65 who meet the required weight and health criteria can donate blood. Specific eligibility criteria may vary, so please check our Eligibility Guidelines for more detailed information.
How often can I donate blood?
You can donate whole blood every 56 days (about 8 weeks). Platelet donations can be made every 7 days, up to 24 times a year. Plasma donations can typically be made every 28 days. Always consult with our medical team if you have questions about your eligibility.
Is donating blood safe?
Yes, donating blood is a safe process. We use sterile, single-use needles for each donation to ensure there is no risk of infection. Our staff follows strict protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment for all donors.
How long does the blood donation process take?
The entire blood donation process usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour. This includes registration, a brief medical screening, the donation itself, and a short recovery period with refreshments. The actual blood collection takes about 20 – 30 minutes.
What should I do to prepare for donating blood?
Eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water before your donation. Avoid fatty foods as they can affect blood tests.
Wear clothing with sleeves that can be easily rolled up. Relax and follow the instructions provided by our staff.
After Donation: Rest for a few minutes, have some snacks and fluids provided at the donation center, and avoid strenuous activities for the next 24 hours.
Will donating blood affect my health?
Donating blood is generally safe and does not significantly affect your health. Your body replenishes the lost fluids within 24 hours, and the red blood cells are replaced within a few weeks. Regular donors often report feeling good about their contribution to saving lives.
